Waiting for WoD: More stuff to do

Waiting for WoD: More stuff to do

I recently wrote a post about things you can do to keep yourself busy while you’re waiting for Warlords of Draenor.

Waiting for WoD: What to do

Gaining Reputation with the Sha’Tari Skyguard, The Kurenai and the Netherwing all of which will grant you access to some pretty cool mounts.

I also talked about getting ready for a new expansion by preparing your character and alts with the right bags and storage system so that you can be ready to zoom into the content with hungry empty bags ready to fill to the brim with loot!

I even mentioned an easy mount you can get if you have tailoring active, and did not yet have the Frosty Flying Carpet… also did you hear the rumour about the flying carpets no longer needing the Tailoring Profession active to use (in WoD)? That opens up a world of gold making possibilities – and even more reason to go and grind old rep for the mats you’ll get while doing so…

More things to do while Waiting for WoD

1. Tol Barad

I started playing during Cataclysm, so I spent most of that expansion leveling, instead of playing at maximum level – which meant that I barely noticed when new patches were added.

I’m going back now because there are two awesome mounts there, that I just have to get before Warlords of Draenor launches.

I’m using my mage for this, for one very simple reason. Portals. You can take any class – and simply use the Earthen Ring portals in Stormwind (Or Orgrimmar if you’re horde), but for me – I like the simplicity of a portal wherever I need it.

My mage is also a tailor – which is an added bonus for collecting as much Embersilk as my bags will carry, since it sells well both in plain form, or for using in the creation of Embersilk Bags.

So Tol Barad – consists of 2 things, but we’re only going to be talking about the PVE daily quest hub today i.e. Tol Barad Peninsula, not the PVP battleground (Battle for Tol Barad), which I’m sure you’ve all seen at some point.

Here is a map of Tol Barad Peninsula

Completing Tol Barad daily quests will grant you a Tol Barad Commendation. There are 5 to 6 daily quests that you can complete, depending on the selection available for that day.

Here is a sample selection I got one day:

Razer Orbweaver Stealth
…and the following day I got this…

Razer DeathStalker Ultimate
The two mounts I mentioned that you can earn, are something really special.

1. The Reins of the Spectral Steed (165 Tol Barad Commendations) for Horde players this becomes the Reins of the Spectral Wolf

Here is an example of the Spectral Steed (you see them on Tol Barad, in some of the quest areas).

and for Horde players the Spectral Wolf

and the second mount (which is a flying mount) is:

2. Reins of the Drake of the West Wind (200 Tol Barad Commendations)

There is an additional quest if you are willing to venture into the PVP Battleground as well – and if you are victorious, and win, you can complete another daily quest called “Victory in Tol Barad” which grants you 3 Tol Barad Commendations, definitely worth it if you have the patience!

For Pet Collectors, there is something for you too!

The Fox Kit, and Rustberg Gull are available for adding to your menagerie for bizarrely, very differing prices. The Fox Kit costs 200 Tol Barad Commendations and the Rustberg Gull 50.

Tabard Collectors take note!

Don’t forget to pick up your Tabard (available from Honored reputation level)

Baradin’s Wardens for Alliance and Hellscream’s Reach for Horde.

Vanity Item/Toy Collectors see here!

The Tol Barad Searchlight is an item that is placed on the ground and slowly rotates, emitting a low groaning sound.

Waiting for WoD: Brush up on current Beta Info

Fatboss TV have done a video outlining the current level 100 talents (in their current Beta form, info could change) for every spec and class. Remember that with the exception of Rogues and Deathknights, Level 100 talents will change depending on your spec.

You can watch that here: use the annotations to go straight to your class if you don’t want to watch the whole thing.

Well that’s plenty to be getting on with!

Updated: I completely forgot to add – when I published this a few minutes ago – that Tol Barad also has some Elementium Ore veins, so having a char with mining is also an option!

elementium ore

Happy playing all!

  1. Andreas

Excellent post, perfect for when you are bored in any situation in WoW 🙂
I was away for most of Cataclysm so it’s nice to have a list over those areas that I had no idea had mounts and stuff.
I love all the info and pics too, great post.

Thanks Andreas, I am always pleased to hear that my post has helped someone find something new out in WoW. Also – who doesn’t love a good spectral mount? 😀

  2. navimie

Well that’s a lot to keep one busy! I must admit tol barad is something I should get back to…
