Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.1
Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.1 will be the first content update since the release of the expansion (13th November 2014), and although we don’t have a release date yet for the patch – testing is available right now through the PTR (Public Test Realm).
There is a new loading screen!
I feel quite lucky to be so heavily invested in the Alliance side of the story, since I genuinely feel that we have a better zone to call home in this expansion. I’m sure that the gazillions of hordies out there would disagree with me, but this gem I found on What The Shift the other day sums up my feelings on the different faction zones perfectly.
…and yes, I do have a horde currently in Draenor, hiding out in his teeny level 1 garrison, because it’s just too cold for such a fabulous blood elf to be out in that kind of weather.
There is a new mount!
The Voidtalon of the Dark Star – which has been likened to the Flametalon of Alysrazor, but to me looks more like an epic purple version of Reins of the Ravenlord. I don’t mind in the slightest that Blizzard are updating an existing model, since it makes perfect sense given where the original came from in The Burning Crusade. You can see the updated model here on Wowhead. There is something called a Chauffered Chopper coming – where you summon someone to drive you around. I’m trying to get my head around this…if this is a mount – how is ‘being driven around Draenor’ any better than taking the flight path? It will be interesting to see how this item will be used.
Heirloom Upgrade Tokens!
I’m happy about this -but since I feel I have leveled just about every alt I’m ever going to level (make me come back and read this again in 6 months) – it’s something I’m pleased about for everyone else, and hopefully I will upgrade my ‘looms and that will be that.
New 125+ Stat Food!
As we speak I am already flogging the Savage Feasts that have multiplied like rabbits in season in our guild bank on the Auction House. Since cooking-recipe-learning was simplified – it’s really no excuse to not have maximum level cooking anymore – especially since the feasts appear to give less than optimal stats on occasion – if you’re a raider, you should be at least cooking your own optimal food to bring to raid anyway. All you have to do to learn new recipes is taste and cook some of the food in Draenor -and bam – you get new recipes right in your bags ready to learn These are the new recipes – bear in mind that this is datamined from the PTR – things can still change! (For now it seems as though Crescent Sabrefish (of any size) will be a prime ingredient – so don’t ditch your trash fish!)
Yes, there is a legendary follower in-bound, which apparently is Garona, which we have captured during the legendary quest – once you’ve handed in the 125 Abrogator Stones part of the quest. I’m really happy to see that she has a guaranteed Epic Mount (mission duration shortener) trait, since this is the one that I tend to favour when selecting new followers from my Garrison Inn.
An item which allows you to complete 5 work orders at once! YES. OMG YES! Something which will ease the pain of this hideous ‘gated behind daily cooldowns’ part of professions now! Well done Blizzard! You listened to the community! /cheer
I absolutely LOVE this idea! You can change the music in your garrison, by collecting various pieces such as Legends of Azeroth. Don’t get me wrong – I love the garrison music, oh how it is an improvement over the music at shrine – but the ability to change it to something that we like – or at least the ability to give ourselves variety? HUGE THUMBS UP.
Tweet from the Game!
For bloggers, content producers and other social media birds like me – this is an absolute GEM of an improvement and will help me stay in touch with people while I’m in the game, SO much easier. Love the idea.
There will be a Platinum level now for Garrison Invasions – naturally with improved loot.
In Summary and My Thoughts
Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.1: I feel as though, with the release of this expansion, and even more so with 6.1, Blizzard are really listening closely, to the playerbase, and their reactions, and developing accordingly. Perhaps it feels this way, since there are changes that I find good and positive from my own perspective. However, I know that I am not the only player whose play style and preferences matter. There are certainly people out there who hate the garrison concept in it’s entirety, and even though I look at those people with flummoxed incredulity, I am at least able to acknowledge their existence, while I go about my business of loving every minute of the current style of play. I heard a rumour that along with flight path improvements, we will soon gain the ability to ‘get off the flight path HERE‘ – in that we’ll be able to disembark at the ‘next flight point’ in stead of having to wait out the whole journey we first selected. I cannot tell you how many times I have implored Blizzard by way of the ‘Submit Suggestion’ box in the help menu to allow us to DO EXACTLY THIS. If it becomes a reality, it will at least go some way in filling the void, that ‘no-flying’ currently makes me feel. I am most definitely in the camp that wants flying back, and soon. I’ve enjoyed not having flying, but with no end in sight, and not knowing when we’ll be able to take to the skies (What are we without the skies!?), it’s the only remaining aspect of gameplay, that causes the slightest sense of ‘non-enjoyment’ for me.
